An elderly widow, Ms Annie King, of Murvey, Roundstone, Connemara, died when fire broke out in her home on Saturday evening. She was alone in the house at the time of the fire, which is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Two units of Clifden Fire Brigade fought the blaze. The remains of Ms King (93) have been removed to University Hospital Galway.
