A leading US training consultant told a conference in Galway yesterday that estimates for the next 10 years indicated that there would be a shortage of suitably qualified graduates to fill jobs in the technological sector.
Mr Robert Scott said half of the students who entered third-level colleges in the US did not graduate within six years, while half of those who did graduate did not find jobs which required a degree.
He urged over 100 European and US experts on technology education to concentrate on the large numbers of students who never finish college.
