Police in the North have described a suspicious object found in Co Antrim as a “viable device”.

Police in the North have described a suspicious object found in Co Antrim as a “viable device”.

The discovery led to a security alert in Carrickfergus yesterday evening.

The object was found in the back garden of a house under renovation.

Families who were moved from their homes on Drumhoy Drive were later allowed to return.

Police said today the device, while viable, was in poor condition.
