According to gardaí, 22 cars on Cowper Road had their tyres slashed, 23 cars on Frankfort Avenue were damaged, and two cars parked on Vernon Grove were targeted.

Some nine cars on Leicester Avenue and a further three cars on Grosvenor Road were similarly damaged.

It is understood a meeting has been arranged between local gardaí and residents of the streets affected tomorrow night to discuss the damage.

A Garda spokeswoman said an investigation was under way. She said CCTV footage was being studied but was unable to provide a motive for the attacks.
