EDINBURGH - Two prison officers were last night being held hostage by three prisoners at a Scottish jail. They are being held in a cell at Glenochil Prison in central Scotland.

The incident started shortly before 4.30 p.m., according to the Scottish Prison Service, which said specially trained negotiators had been brought in to try to resolve the situation.

The staff are being held in the prison's C Hall which houses adult prisoners serving between four years and life. The rest of the prison and a neighbouring Young Offenders Institution are reported as being "peaceful".
