Two British mountain climbers died today after falling 100ft in the French Alps, rescue services said.

Two British mountain climbers died today after falling 100ft in the French Alps, rescue services said.

The victims had reached a height of about 12,500ft in the Mont Blanc massif before the fall. Both victims were about 50 years old. Their names were not released.

Rescuers said it appeared there had been a problem with the climbers' equipment.
