PLANS FOR the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Tullamore, Co Offaly, have been unveiled.
The organisers say the event, which takes place from August 16th to the 23rd, is one of the biggest such folk festivals in Europe.
Councillor and chairman of Offaly County Council Noel Bourke said at the Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre that Tullamore and other county towns and villages had opened not just their hearts but their doors as well for the event.
Fleadh committee chairwoman Attracta Brady said the town was very proud to have the fleadh for a third time in a row. “It is something that hasn’t happened since the early 1990s [a third successive fleadh in one location] in Clonmel. It has taken hard work from all our volunteers.”
