An assistant principal from a school in Bray, Co Wicklow, has been appointed education and research officer of the Teachers' Union of Ireland. Ms Maureen O'Rafferty, from Ballywaltrim Community School, has been a teacher of science and mathematics in vocational and community schools for many years.
