A 23-year-old man was killed when his car hit another vehicle at Lisfannon, Buncrana, Co Donegal at 2.40 a.m.

He sustained serious injuries and died later at Altnagelvin hospital in Derry. Two occupants in the other car received minor injuries. Gardaí in Buncrana are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old male pedestrian died when he was struck by a car at Rosapenna, Downings, Co Donegal at 1.25 a.m.

Elsewhere a male pedestrian was killed in a road collision in Dublin's city centre last night.

The man is understood to have collided with a truck on Bachelor's Walk shortly after 8 p.m.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The man's name has not yet been released.
