Gardai are questioning three men in connection with an attempted robbery at a DVD rental shop in Fairview, Dublin.

Three men entered the store at about 10pm last night as staff were closing up.

The raiders, who were armed with what is believed to be a handgun, tied up the staff and attempted to gain access to a safe, a Garda statement said.

Gardaí called to the scene discovered the raiders on the premises and arrested three men.

The men, all in their 20s, are being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Whitehall, Fairview and Raheny Garda stations.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.
