Three people have died in a head-on collision between a van and a car on the MI motorway near Dunleer in Co Louth early this afternoon.
Two other people have been seriously injured.
The collision happened on the northbound side of the motorway, just north of Monasterboice, at 2.10 pm.
Portions of the M1 have been sealed, and gardaí are diverting traffic.
