IRISH PEOPLE IN PARIS:A HIGHLY experienced and widely travelled textile designer, Lamotte O'Carroll from Roscommon, studied textile technology in Leicester for five years before heading to Australia, where she worked for Gucci. Since then she has designed fabrics for major brands such as Chanel, Prada, Donna Karan and Balenciaga, was a menswear buyer at Le Bon Marché, and director of women's, menswear and couture at Jean Paul Gaultier.

She is now working with emerging couture labels and teaching textile design on the master’s fashion design course at the Chambre Syndicale in Paris. She is also embarking on an MBA at HEC business school in Paris, and will travel to Silicon Valley in May for her major in digital in fashion. She is married with four children aged 11-27, and loves Paris but wants to make it back to Ireland at the end of 2013 “and do something interesting in fashion”.
