An explosion today at an Iraqi security patrol in the Iraqi town of Baquba  wounded at least 10 people.

The explosion struck members of the Iraqi Civil Defense Force as they were on an early morning patrol through the town, the scene of repeated attacks against Iraqi security forces in recent weeks.

Police said the blast appeared to have been caused by an explosive device detonated remotely as the patrol was passing. Doctors at a nearby hospital said two of the 10 people admitted had serious injuries.

Two weeks ago, a suspected suicide bomber detonated his vehicle outside a police station in the town, killing several bystanders. Late last year, twin car bomb attacks on police stations in Baquba and a nearby town killed more than a dozen.

Iraqi security forces, particularly the police, have increasingly become the target of rebels in Iraq, who regard them as collaborating with US occupying forces.
