A dispute between a cab drivers’ organisation and the Commission for Taxi Regulation over a sit-in at its offices last month has been settled, the High Court heard yesterday.

Last month, the taxi regulator obtained an injunction against the Irish Taxi Council (ITC) preventing its members continuing the sit-in.

ITC president Frank Byrne agreed to abide by the injunction but asked the court to adjourn the proceedings to allow him seek legal advice.

Yesterday, Sara Moorhead SC, for the regulator, told Ms Justice Mary Laffoy the matter had been resolved on terms including the drivers agreeing to permanent injunctions prohibiting trespass on the regulator’s offices in Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, or a nearby car park used by its employees.

Two members of the ITC were involved in a sit-in at the regulator’s offices on March 8th last and left the following day after the injunction was granted to the regulator. A picket was also placed outside the building, believed to be by ITC members.
