The Rod Stewart concert which was postponed just hours before it was due to begin at Dublin's Lansdowne Road last night has been rescheduled for tonight.
The concert promoter MCD said the gig had to be put off for 24 hours because the pop star had "an extremely severe sore throat". The change of date at short notice was criticised by callers to RTÉ's Liveline yesterday.
Mr Justin Green of MCD acknowledged the inconvenience but said the company had put a lot of work into ensuring the event was rescheduled rather than cancelled altogether. He said Stewart had been advised by his doctor to rest for 24 hours.
Tickets bought for last night's show will be valid tonight. If the rearranged date does not suit, they can be exchanged at the point of purchase and a refund obtained.
"Rod would like to apologise to all his fans," Mr Green added.
