Police are today investigating a series of gun and petrol bomb attacks on homes in Northern Ireland.

A couple and their two children escaped injury when around ten shots were fired at their house in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

In North Belfast, a woman and two children were left shaken after a petrol bomb was launched at the front window of their house. It is thought shots were also fired at the property.

In a separate incident, at around the same time, a nearby home was hit by three petrol bombs.

Meanwhile, a caravan and cars outside two homes in Co Derry were damaged in separate arson attacks.

Police said no-one was injured in any of the incidents and a motive has yet to be established for the attacks.
