The trade union SIPTU has called on its members to support the Reclaim the Night march tonight, organised by Women's Aid.

The union's equality officer, Ms Noiris Greene, said women were alarmed and frustrated about violence. She said the march provided women with an opportunity to express their anger about recent violence against the most vulnerable sectors of society.

The march starts at 7 p.m. at the GPO on O'Connell Street, Dublin.
