Scale-down in Bessbrook

Security installations around the Co Armagh village of Bessbrook were scaled down over the weekend

Security installations around the Co Armagh village of Bessbrook were scaled down over the weekend. The British army removed concrete bollards and large screens which were erected last month after a number of bombings in nearby towns by dissident republicans.

The village has one of the British army's largest security installations in the North, and locals are demanding that the base be dismantled. The operation was said to be due to the improving security situation.
