Johannesburg - The South African Truth Commission has ordered two apartheidera generals to account for a 1993 army raid in which five children were killed.

The outgoing defence forces chief, Gen Georg Meiring, and a former army chief, Gen Kat Liebenberg, have been summoned to appear before a closed hearing on Monday in connection with the incident.

The two are expected to be questioned in Cape Town about orders given to the 12-member team which carried out the raid in the black "homeland" of Transkei.
