RUC man faces theft charges

An RUC officer appeared in court in Derry yesterday charged with stealing money raised by his colleagues for a charity

An RUC officer appeared in court in Derry yesterday charged with stealing money raised by his colleagues for a charity. Mr David Frederick Gamble (49), whose address was given as Strand Road RUC Headquarters in Derry, was returned for trial to the City's Crown Court on August 27th on his own bail of £200.

Mr Gamble faces charges on eight offences alleged to have been committed between June, 1991, and last November. He faces three charges of stealing money from a colleague, one of stealing money from a charity tin and a further charge of stealing money raised during a police cycling event for charity. He has been suspended from duty.
