The trial of a Kilkenny man for the alleged rape of a teenage girl after a cider-drinking party collapsed at the Central Criminal Court after the jury was sworn in. Ms Maureen Clark SC, prosecuting, said the State was entering a nolle prosequi because it was not in a position to offer evidence of the alleged rape. Mr Justice Carney discharged the jury and released the 19-year-old man.
