Two juveniles are being questioned by police tonight after the death of a security guard at a shopping centre on the outskirts of north Belfast.

The guard died at the Abbey Centre at Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, at around 2pm.

It is understood two youths went into a shop in the mall and tried to steal bags of sweets and were grabbed by staff and handed over to the security guard.

Moments later he collapsed near a nearby stairwell.

The PSNI said they were investigating the death about an hour after the popular shopping mall opened for Sunday trading.

A spokeswoman said the juveniles had been taken to a local police station.
