The Budget focus on tackling long-term unemployment and reducing the tax burden on the law paid has been welcomed by the Combat Poverty Agency.

But the agency said it was disappointed that the opportunity afforded by economic buoyancy to increase basic adult social welfare rates nearer to the levels recommended 10 years ago by the Commission on Social Welfare had not been taken.
