London - British police declined to comment yesterday on reports in Chile that the former dictator, Gen Augusto Pinochet (84), had suffered a head injury in a fall at the residence where he is under round-the-clock surveillance.
"We won't discuss whether or not it happened. We never discuss details related to Mr Pinochet," a Scotland Yard spokesman said.
According to the Chilean television station Canal 13, Gen Pinochet, who has been held in Britain since October 1998, hit his head in a fall after momentarily losing consciousness. A rival channel, Megavision, said that the general had merely suffered a bruise to the arm.
