Petrol bombs were thrown at Garda patrol cars in Dublin's Sean McDermott Street early this morning. The cars were called to investigate stolen cars being driven by young men around the area. When gardai entered the area they found nails and burning rubbish had been strewn across the road in an effort to puncture the tires.

Dublin Fire Brigade was unable to enter when bricks and stones were thrown at their vehicles. The scene was later cleared. No arrests were made.
