The RUC says it fired two rounds of plastic bullets in Lurgan, Co Armagh, last night, following a reported petrol bomb attack by up to 50 youths.

The disturbance occurred after police received notification of a suspicious object at Glendennings factory in Victoria Street shortly after 6 p.m. The police were forced to call for assistance when they became trapped in the premises.

The RUC press office said early this morning it was "a clear attempt to lure police into a situation where they came under sustained and well orchestrated attacks".
