The Royal Black Institution yesterday complied with the Parades Commission's decision to reroute its march along the Lower Ormeau Road in Belfast. There was a small police presence as the Ballynafeigh members were prevented from parading along a section of the road. Over 1,000 members from seven Belfast districts attended a service conducted by the Rev Brian Anderson, who said: "In the light of the current situation, we felt we had a duty to quietly adhere to what had been decided."

Further Black Institution parades are due to take place next Saturday in Newry, Bangor, Ballymena, Dungannon, Lim avady and Donemana.
