ONE of Britain's busiest motorways was blocked in both directions for five hours last night as army bomb disposal experts searched an Irish lorry for explosives.
The lorry had attracted the attention of police and Ministry of Transport inspectors carrying out routine checks on lorries' road worthiness at Sandbach service station on the M6 in Cheshire.
No explosives were found, but the articulated lorry's driver, who was alone in the cab, was arrested over alleged irregularities in his documentation.
As the roadblock was lifted, he was still being questioned.
