Gardaí in Co Monaghan appealed last night for information to help them identify the body of a man who was found dead yesterday in Castleblayney.
The man, who is believed to be in his 60s, was found lying close to an empty upturned trolley beside a shed near a supermarket.
The body was removed to Cavan General Hospital last night where a post-mortem examination is being carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Michael Curtis.
Gardaí say they are treating the man's death as suspicious. Sgt Eric Boyle said they were anxious to identify the man.
"He is in his early 60s with grey hair and a light build. He was wearing a light brown corduroy jacket with bluish corduroy slacks and had a very distinctive red woollen scarf," he said.
Detectives were last night suggesting the victim might be from the North and visiting the town. It is understood the PSNI has been asked to assist in inquiries.
