Shamrock Rovers withstood a late rally from hosts Longford Town to record a rare away win at Flancare Park this evening.

Following a goalless opening period, Trevor Molloy fired Rovers in front shortly after the break before doubling the Hoops advantage from the penalty spot 20 minutes from the end.

However, Longford, who will face the winners of Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic in the upcoming FAI Cup final, rallied and Shane Barrett reduced the deficit eight minutes from time.
