EDINBURGH - The Scottish Office minister, Lord James Douglas-Hamilton, has, won a legal battle against his cousin, Mr Alasdair Douglas-Hamilton, a lawyer and official of the Bank of Scotland, for the 350-year old Earldom of Selkirk.

Both men are nephews of the 10th earl, George, who died, without male heirs in 1994.
