Miami - Miami's county mayor, who ran foul of US authorities and local public opinion during the Elian Gonzalez fracas, has been re-elected with Cuban American support.
Mr Alex Penelas (38) was widely criticised for exacerbating tensions in Miami when on March 29th he accused the government of provoking unrest by insisting that Elian's Miami relatives hand the six-year-old Cuban castaway over to his father.
