The Sinn Fein ardchomhairle member, Mr Martin McGuinness, has escaped serious injury in a car crash in Co Donegal, writes Gerry Moriarty in Belfast. Two other cars were involved in the collision, and passengers in one car, a mother and her two children, were treated in hospital.
The accident happened on the road between Donegal and Ballyshannon at tea-time on Monday.
A Sinn Fein spokesman said Mr McGuinness and a passenger in his car, Mr James Quinn of Derry, were badly shaken. They were travelling to Galway to address a public meeting but returned to Derry.
