Marching ban on visiting Orangemen

Visiting Orangemen have been banned from parading around the centre of Derry on July 12th. In a decision last night, the Parades Commission ruled that one local lodge accompanied by a band would be allowed to parade along the route. Other visiting lodges will be prevented from crossing Craigavon Bridge to parade around the city's war memorial at the Diamond.

The commission adjudicated on the march after local Orangemen refused to engage with nationalist Bogside residents, who subsequently lodged an objection to the parade.
