A Dublin father of two, described by gardai as a professional criminal, who threatened an unarmed garda at gunpoint following a £15,000 bank robbery in Co Tipperary, has been jailed for 13 years at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Larry Cummins (30), from Dunnes Street Flats, Dublin, twice pointed his loaded gun at Garda Pat Coffey as he fled with two accomplices after holding up staff and customers at a TSB branch in Clonmel on May 5th, 1998.
Garda Coffey twice stopped when threatened but he continued to shadow Cummins and his accomplices and was able to get the registration number of their stolen car.
