A convicted brothel-keeper was jailed for four months in his absence yesterday for threatening behaviour at a Garda checkpoint in Dublin in August 2002.

Former RUC reservist Peter McCormack (46), Lawnswood Park, Stillorgan, Dublin, failed to turn up in Dublin District Court to answer charges of breach of the peace and failing to obey a garda's direction.

His partner, Audrey Campbell (32), Kilbride Grove, Bray, Co Wicklow, was fined €450 for a breach of the peace.

Judge Patrick Brady rejected submissions from their lawyer that the State had failed to establish a prima facie case that there had been a breach of the peace.
