A man was charged at Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with the discovery of guns and ammunition in the Newtownabbey outside the city.

Mr Roy Walker (24) from Carn Gardens in Glengormley was charged with having a Sten submachine-gun, two pistols and a shotgun with intent to endanger life.

He was also charged with having 151 rounds of ammunition and four shotgun cartridges and handling a stolen car hijacked last April.

He pleads not guilty.

The firearms were found after police forced their way into a lock-up garage at Mossley in Newtownabbey last week.

He was remanded in custody. PA
