A man was arrested outside Government Buildings this morning after threatening to set himself on fire and will appear in court tomorrow.
The 44-year-old, who doused himself in petrol, was near the gates of the Department of the Taoiseach on Upper Merrion Street when he threatened to set himself alight.
He was overpowered by gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade officers sprayed the man with fire extinguishers as a precaution.
The man was unharmed, and was taken to Pearse Street Garda station. He is due to appear in court at 10.30am tomorrow.
