A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was found dead in a Ballymun flat in the capital on Tuesday.

Mr Liam Wells, of 34, Coultry Road, Ballymun, was charged with the murder of Ms Linda Dunne (24) in her flat on Stillogue Road on Tuesday night. Mr Wells, who is unemployed, is the father of Ms Dunne's 18-month old daughter.

Ms Dunne was found dead in her flat at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. She is believed to have suffered stab wounds.

Mr Wells was also charged with assaulting Ms Dunne's mother Kathleen in nearby Shangan Avenue, also on Tuesday night.

He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

Judge Mary Collins remanded Mr Wells in custody until September 27th, when he will appear in Cloverhill District Court.

She garnted Mr Wells legal aid and ordered he undergo a psychiatirc evaluation.
