A 29-year-old Limerick man was today charged with the murder of Mr John O’Sullivan who was fatally stabbed in the city yesterday.

Mr John McNamara of 26 Craeval Park, Moyross, Limerick, was charged at a special sitting of Limerick District Court with murdering Mr O'Sullivan (24) contrary to common law on August 13th at Pine View Gardens, Moyross.

The defendant’s solicitor told the court his client was unemployed and living on £55 social welfare a week.

Mr Justice Leo Malone remanded the defendant to a sitting of Limerick District Court tomorrow.

Mr McNamara was remanded in custody until then.
