The Captain's Prize, the Mayor Cooper Cup, at the Oireachtas Golf Society outing in Co Dublin, last week was won by Minister of State Hugh Byrne and the runner-up was former deputy, John Stafford. The guests' prize went to the only lady among the 65 competitors, Carol Shatter, wife of Alan. Reports from the course indicate there was a record number of balls lost as players attempted to circumvent the many water hazards. As is traditional, the current captain, Des O'Malley, will be taking the society to his own constituency of Limerick East during the summer recess. Members and their guests play in Ballyneety and in Adare, just outside the boundary, on August 22nd and 23rd.
