Camp Zeist - The defence at the Lockerbie bombing trial attacked the credibility of a former Libyan double agent yesterday, saying the prosecution witness had invented untruths in a desperate bid to secure his future.

Mr William Taylor, defending, told the four judges that a key prosecution witness, Mr Abdul Majid Giaka, was a "shirker" who dreamt up incidents for the benefit of the CIA only when the US intelligence service threatened to halt payments.
