A Liberal Democrat candidate standing in the election was injured yesterday after being shot by what police believed was an airgun. A Strathclyde police spokeswoman said Mr Chic Brodie, who is standing for the Greenock and Inverclyde seat in Scotland, was treated at hospital for a hand injury after he was hit by what is thought to be an airgun pellet while addressing a small group of residents in Greenock.
"The police inquiries are continuing," the spokeswoman said. No arrests had been made.
