A 58-year-old Kilkenny man who fell on the night the four-in-a-row All-Ireland winning hurling team came back to the city has died.

Liam Lyster from Kilmacshane, Inistioge was in the Square, Inistioge when the incident occurred on Monday evening.

He fell back on some steps and hit his head. He was taken by ambulance to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny and was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin where he died on Thursday night.
