The United States ambassador, Mrs Jean Kennedy Smith, is to be conferred with Irish citizenship by the President at a ceremony at Aras an Uach tarain tomorrow morning, Maol Muire Tynan reports.
Irish citizenship is conferred on an individual who, in the Government's opinion, has given "distinguished service to the nation". The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, and the Tanaiste, Ms Harney, as well as members of the Government and the diplomatic corps will attend, along with family members and personal guests of the ambassador.
