Auckland - A New Zealand man who almost destroyed the America's Cup yachting trophy with a sledgehammer was jailed for 34 months yesterday.
Judge Barry Morris, sentencing Benjamin Peri Nathan (28), a Maori language student, said the 150-year-old "Auld Mug" was not a mere "bauble" but something that represented the best efforts of a New Zealand team.
