Two dead in separate road crashes in Northern Ireland

Male motorcyclist (40s) and pedestrian (26) died in collisions in Down and Tyrone

Two people have died in separate road collisions in Northern Ireland this weekend.

On Saturday, a motorcyclist died in a road crash in Newry, Co Down.

The man, aged in his 40s, was killed in the collision with another vehicle on the Tandragee Road on Saturday evening.

His female pillion passenger was seriously injured in the crash close to the junction of Appletree Hill.

The incident was reported to the PSNI shortly after 7pm.

Separately, a male pedestrian has died following a collision with a Ford Focus car on Chapel Street in Cookstown, Co Tyrone shortly before 3.30am on Sunday morning.

Stephen Wilkinson (26) from Ardboe died following the crash and the 26-year-old male driver of the car has been arrested and is currently in police custody.

The PSNI are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
