Terminal 2 at Dublin airport was briefly evacuated on Wednesday morning due to a smoke alarm.

The building was being evacuated shortly before 9am.

A spokeswoman said the emergency was due to a smoke alarm which had to be checked out by the fire services.

It is understood the alarm may have been triggered by someone smoking in a toilet.

Passengers have now returned to the terminal building.
