Teenager dies following Dublin crash

19-year-old driver in serious condition following crash between car and Dublin bus

A 17-year-old girl has died following a crash between a Dublin bus and a car in Dublin city earlier this evening.

The crash occurred on the Greenhills Road in Walkinstown at around 5pm. Two fire trucks and five ambulances attended the scene of the crash and two individuals, a male driver and the 17-year-old front-seat passenger, were cut from the car.

The female was brought to Tallaght Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver, a 19-year-old male, was also brought to Tallaght Hospital where he is said to be in a serious condition.

The bus, which was traveling inbound on thenumber 27 route from Clare Hall to Jobstown, had seven passengers on board at the time the incident occurrred.

The driver of the bus and a male passenger were taken to St James’ Hospital alwhere they are being treated for shock.

A spokeswoman for Dublin Bus said it would be carrying out its own investigation into the crash which would include the examination of on-board CCTV footage which it would also be making available to gardaí.

The scene of the crash remains closed to facilitate examinations by Garda forensic collision investigators and diversions are in place.
