Man in his 70s dies in Kerry house fire

A man in his 70s has died in a house-fire in the village of Moyvane in north Kerry.

Four units of the fire service from Limerick and from Kerry battled the blaze which broke out Monday night at about 11 pm.

It took four hours to bring the blaze under control.

Adjoining houses in the Woodgrove housing estate in Moyvane were also damaged, it is believed.

The local man lived alone. A post-mortem is being carried out at Kerry General Hospital.

A forensic examination of the scene is taking place, but the fire is not believed to be suspicious at this stage.
